Sam Raimi's ultimate experience in grueling horror, the first of the series that went from face-melting terror to gut-busting humor by its third chapter, launching Bruce Campbell into low-level orbit as the king of the B-movies. In this movie, Ash and his friends venture out at a cabin in the woods for some rest and relaxation, but suddenly face the absolute face of hell when they find the Necronomicon hidden in the rustic cabin. Their bodies are violated by the unholy, and their souls are eaten away, leaving only evil, dead beings behind to fight off until daylight breaks.
